We've been doing a little bit of photo restoration this week, which has once again opened my eyes to how much Photoshop can do. You can see my efforts so far, and the original, below.
Feedback welcome, although I am aware the face currently looks like he's wearing make-up.

Good use of colours so far Craig. As you said perhaps a little tweaking, but your getting there.
I especially like the suit of the guy on the left (assuming you've changed it and it's not just levels - difficult to say when they all look the same). Im finding it quite difficult to choose colours that could of been worn in those times (greys, blacks etc.) but without it looking as if it is a greyscale photograph.
Yeah, that's my major difficulty too. The way I've been working is by putting a colour on that I think might look ok, then tweaking the hue and saturation.
The guy on the left is a tricky one becuase I think his jacket wouldn't have matched his trousers due to them being pinstripe and his jacket isn't.
The hair is also tricky as well, the guy in the middle and on the right looks easy enough but the left hand guy doesn't. I've seen some of the group do him ginger while others do him as a blonde.
That sounds a better way of doing it Craig. I've being taking the click, try, click, try again approach, tweaking it sounds so much easier and quicker.
I also agree with James about the difference in the left hand mans suit too. I wasn't sure whether to do him in one colour or two, still haven't decided. I think the hair is a browny/gingery colour on mine however.
It will also be interesting to see others trophy colours, I think most people (including myself) are doing it a gold trophy, but has anyone done it silver or bronze?
I didn't use the saturation or hue. I clicked a colour that I thought would work, and then used the fill bucket tool to try and get the right colour... I think your way is much better. I think I will have to try your method.
Yes I think that the man on the left is the hardest too, I coloured his jacket in a light brown colour but I think it looks effective in grey. I think you did a good job with the skin tone also because when I first coloured his face he looked like something off the Simpsons!
Pretty good, I haven't started my coloring yet but I may try your method. I think that you need to alter his skin tone though as I say I haven't started it yet so I don't know how hard it is, but i think that it looks to unrealistic if you don't mind me saying. I was thinking of doing a silver trophy but the gold looks spot on, well done mate
Agree with Jamie Milsom. The flesh tone needs some work.
